Dr John W. Odom MD
Dr. John W. Odom was born and raised in a small town in South Georgia.  He graduated from Georgia Southwestern College in 1977 and went on to attend the Universidad de Guadalajara and New York Medical College.  He graduated from New York Medical College in 1983 and went on to do his residency in general surgery at the same institution.  He completed a fellowship at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in 1990 and after serving briefly in the United States Army began his practice in Savannah and has been here since.  His hobbies include horses, dancing, and reading.  Medically, Dr. Odom’s interests include complicated hernia repairs and upper gastrointestinal surgery.  Dr. Odom is the only practitioner in southeast Georgia who offers implantation of gastric pacemakers for patients diagnosed with diabetic gastroparesis.   
Dr Joey Christmas MD
Dr. Joey Christmas is a board certified surgeon who has been with our practice for the last five years. Dr. Christmas is a proud graduate of the United States Military Academy in West Point, NY in 1984. He enjoyed a very successful military career and in 1992 obtained a master of civil engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology. After an equally successful career as a structural engineer he decided to go to medical school and finished his premed requirements at Kennesaw State University with a B.S. in Biology. He obtained his M.D. Degree from the Medical College of Georgia and went on to complete his surgical residency at the University of Kansas. His interests include hiatal hernia repair, inguinal and abdominal hernia surgery, colon resection, gallbladder surgery, and endoscopy. Dr. Christmas’s personal interests include outdoor activities, scuba diving, travel, and keeping abreast of the activities of his three boys.
Dr Anthony Foley MD
Dr. Anthony M. Foley came to us by way of the United States Army. Dr. Foley did his undergraduate work at the University of Miami and went on to Albany Medical College in Albany, New York. He completed his residency at Dwight D. Eisenhower Army Medical Center
at Ft. Gordon, GA. He has served as the Chief of the Department of Surgery at Wynn Army Hospital at Ft. Stewart and is a highly decorated veteran of the War in Kosovo, Somalia, Iraq, and Afghanistan. Dr. Foley is the recipient of three bronze stars and multiple other military commendations. He is married to Dr. Dolores Haviland-Foley, a family practitioner, and has three children. He has many professional interests, including advanced laparoscopy, robotics, cancer surgery, hernia repairs, and advanced reoperative surgery. His personal interests include outdoor activities, church related activities, and keeping abreast of the activities of his three lovely children. To say that his diligence, expertise and work ethic is welcome in our practice 
would be understatement.
Dr Pracilla Thomas MD
Priscilla Thomas, MD is the newest addition to our practice.  She graduated from the University of Missouri in Kansas City with a combined B.A. - M. D. degree in 2009.  She did her general surgical training at the same institution and at the University of North Dakota where she graduated in 2015.  After completing her residency in general surgery, she completed the American College of Surgeons Transition to Practice Program at Mercer University.  Priscilla is Board certified and is a very well published general surgeon.  Her interests are not only in basic general surgery and laparoscopy but also in rural and pediatric surgery.  Priscilla is one of our partners who primarily works out of Wayne Memorial Hospital in Jesup, but also can be seen at St. Joseph’s/Candler in Savannah.  We look forward to a long and enjoyable relationship with this talented surgeon.
Dr Michelino Scarlata MD
Dr. Michelino Scarlata is a native of Italy where he attended the University Of Verona School Of 
Medicine. After coming to the United States he trained in general surgery at the University of Miami, at St. Vincent’s Hospital in New York and New York Medical College. He also studied at the University of California, Irvine and Mt. Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach, Florida. He completed his fellowship in surgical oncology at the University of Miami, Miller School of 
Medicine. Dr. Scarlata’s areas of interest include surgical oncology and particularly surgery of the breast. His hobbies include travel and cooking. Dr. Scarlata is fluent in English, Italian, and Spanish.
Dr Ravindra George MD
Dr. Ravi George is considered to be one of the most accomplished laparoscopists in our area. In addition to being a great all around general surgeon he is able to perform 80% of his cases laparoscopicly. His interests are extremely varied and include hiatal hernia surgery, inguinal and abdominal hernia surgery, colon resection, gallbladder surgery, and endoscopy. He can be seen in our Savannah, Richmond hill, or Bluffton office. Dr. George came to us by way of the Christian Medical College and Stony Brook University Hospital in New York. Prior to coming to Metro Surgical, he had a successful surgical practice in Illinois. He is married to Dr. Susan George, an anesthesiologist and has two children, one of whom is a fellow in anesthesia at
MUSC in Charleston. Dr. George’s personal interests include reading, tennis, and golf.
Dr Mark E. Blankenship MD
Along with Dr. Odom, Dr. Blankenship was an original partner at Metro Surgical.  Dr. Blankenship graduated with honors from the Medical College of Georgia.  He completed his surgical residency at Memorial Medical Center in Savannah in 1997 and finished a fellowship in colon and rectal surgery at the University of Texas in 1998.  Dr. Blankenship’s achievements in the area of colorectal surgery in this area cannot be over emphasized.  He was one of the first Board certified colorectal surgeons to ever practice in this community.  He is well versed in advanced robotics, advanced colorectal oncology, and also in the field of incontinence.  Dr. Blankenship enjoys great respect from his peers and is considered a doctor’s doctor.  He is happily married to Penny Blankenship and his son, Mark, is presently a law student at the University of Kentucky.  Dr. Blankenship’s experience and leadership in our group and his desire for quality work and patient satisfaction, is the bedrock of our philosophy as a group.
